About

 

Paradise Airsports Hang Gliding Nationals competition is a flatland aerotow competition and part of the U.S. National Hang Gliding Championship Series. The competition is held in Groveland, Florida for Open, Sport, Swift, and Rigid wing classes.

 

Daily schedule

Check In Day Schedule

Check-in is Sunday May 4, 10:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to16:00 at the Wilotree Clubhouse
Check-in location will be outside near club house

First Comp Day Schedule
Monday, May 5, 09:00: Initial Task and Safety Committee meetings 
Monday, May 5, 09:30: Mandatory Safety Briefing

General Daily Schedule

10:00: Task and Safety Committee meetings 
11:00: Pilot briefing /Task briefing 
12:30: Take-off window opens 
22:00: Provisional results


The daily schedule is subject to change. Any changes to the schedule before the start of the competition will be posted on the website. After the start of the competition, changes will be announced by the Meet Director at the pilots briefing, transmitted via the competition official WhatsApp group and posted on the official board at headquarters.

Selections rules

Pilots (Sport and Open) must have a USHPA Hang 3 or foreign equivalent rating, at minimum, to be confirmed.  In addition, pilots must have an aerotow rating or provide evidence of extensive aerotowing experience. Lastly, pilots must have turbulence (TURB) and cross country (XC) sign offs. A USHPA membership is also required (temporary 30-day memberships will be available at minimal cost on site for foreign pilots).

Entry fee payment

USD 375

Entry fee if paid by March 15th is $375 (includes Wilotree Park Fee): https://hang-glider-racing-association.company.site. After March 15th, entry fees increase to $450.  Aerotowing is managed by Paradise Airsports at Wilotree Park.   Tow fees of $420 can be paid to Paradise Airsports, at their office.
